Welcome to M.E.S. law College Library. The Library has grown to become one of the leading Law college libraries in Uttara Kannada District. Having more than 12,000 books and 15 journals, magazines and periodicals, ICT enabled Facility with open access the library accomplishing its task to reach to wider academic community.

LIBRARY RULE
Bona fide members of the library are requested to adhere / follow the Rules and Regulations in the interest of the effective administration and Smooth functioning of the library.
• Library membership is compulsory to all students who are admitted to courses.
• Readers are requested to bring their Membership ID card whenever they visit the library.
• Readers are requested not to bring any valuable / costly materials like Jewels,
Money, Mobiles, Laptop and any others equipments to the library.
• All readers are requested to put their signature compulsorily in the attendance register.
• Members are not allowed to bring their personnel Books, Journals and Other Electronics equipments inside the library.
• Readers are requested to use the dustbin to put any wastage like papers, chocolate covers and any such garbage’s.
• Readers should not tear the pages of any books instead please use photocopy facilities.
• Please do not misplace / hide the documents and try to maintain the arrangements in order without any disturbance.
• Readers are requested to contact the concerned authority for any guidance and assistance.
• Readers Co-operation is solicited.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts Periodic meetings of Library Committee.
- Recommends and monitors the purchase of books, journals, periodicals etc. demanded by the students/ faculty.
- Ensures stock–taking of books.
- Preservation of old, useful volumes and writing-off unusable Books / periodicals.
- Framing and amending library rules
- Preserves Back-issues of periodicals for research.
- Helps Librarian in the smooth functioning of the library.
- Allotment of budgets for to purchase books.
- Decides penalty/replacement modality for books lost by students.
- Assessment of services provided by the library.
WORKING DAYS OF LIBRARY
(a) All the days except Sunday & Public holidays: 8 am to 2-30 pm
(b) Saturday : 8 am to 1.30 pm
Membership
all the current students and the members of the college staff , both teaching and non-teaching, are allowed to make use of the college library, reading room and the reference section and others can enrol themselves as members only with the written permission of the Principal on conditions laid down.
Book-Borrowing and the duration of Loan
Library Books and Magazines are issued to the members as follows:
- Teaching Staff - 15 Books - For a period of one academic year.
- Non Teaching Staff - 4 Books - For a period of one academic year.
- Students of all classes - 3 Books - For a period of 7 days + Reference 1 book For a period of 3 days.
Students may get the books renewed by the Librarian for a further period of 7 days on request if necessary.

3. Computerized library catalogue
The library catalogue serves as a key to the collection of the library and an index to subjects. This helps the readers to know what books are available in the library
a) by given author,
b) by a given subjects,
c) by a given title etc.,
with the computer application to the library operations. The database of books is prepared and bar coded according to “e-lib Software”. The users can search the computerized database OPAC or the traditional catalogue cards arranged subject wise/ author wise to know what information sources are available in the library on the areas of their interest.
